How do you check a men's health clinician's credentials in Ontario?
You check a men's health clinician's credentials in Ontario by searching the free public register of their regulatory college. Each college lists who is registered and whether they can currently practise.
Search the college website for its public register, then enter the clinician's full name. Titles such as "consultant", "specialist" or "injector" do not tell you someone's profession. The register does.
Which Ontario college register should you search?
The right register depends on the clinician's profession. Ontario's main health professions each have their own college.
| Professional | Regulatory college |
|---|---|
| Physicians | College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) |
| Registered nurses, registered practical nurses and nurse practitioners | College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) |
| Pharmacists | Ontario College of Pharmacists |
| Naturopaths | College of Naturopaths of Ontario |
| Physiotherapists | College of Physiotherapists of Ontario |
What does a register entry show?
A register entry shows whether the person is currently registered, their class of registration and any terms or limits on their practice.
- Status: whether the person is currently registered and able to practise.
- Class: for example, nurse practitioners are listed in the extended class with the CNO.
- Specialty: physician entries can show recognized specialties, such as urology or dermatology.
- Terms, conditions or limits: any restrictions on what someone may do.
- Discipline history: certain past decisions and hearings.
Who is allowed to give injections in Ontario?
Only authorized regulated health professionals can give injections in Ontario, because injecting a substance is a controlled act under the Regulated Health Professions Act.
Some professionals, such as nurses, can perform it with an order from a physician or nurse practitioner, depending on their scope. This applies to treatments like Botox for men, fillers, PRP, Shaft & Scrotum Enhancement and Girth Enlargement. Aestheticians are not regulated health professionals in Ontario and do not have a college register.
What questions can you ask a men's clinic about its team?
You can ask who will assess you, who will perform the treatment and which college they belong to. MAMBA Men's Clinics welcomes these questions.
- Who will assess me, and what is their profession?
- Who will perform the treatment?
- Which regulatory college are they registered with?
- Who do I contact with a question after treatment?
The team answers all of these at a complimentary consult. For privacy questions, read how MAMBA keeps men's health care private.
